Medium sized open "bog" on a high elevation plateau. Bog is surrounded by some natural spruce forest and woodland. Extensive red pine (and red spruce?) plantations. Small pines in open may be naturalized from plantations.;Open wetland with hummocky microtopography. Carex aquatilis sparsely but evenly spaced over hummocks of Vaccinium oxycoccos, Rubus hispidus, and Sphagnum. Possibly used to be an old beaver pond (based on clay soils on top of Pottsville). Animal trail or 'canal' through the plot, used by deer.
Representativeness
Small patch community with Carex aquatilis dominant over more typical bog species - analogous to a Carex utriculata patch.
